About Margaret M. MacDonald

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.  In 2003, I received a Bachelors in Art and Design from New York University, where I studied set design, art history and architecture.  After living in New York City for ten years, I moved to Sydney, Australia, where I am currently working as a production designer and screenwriter.

In addition to my work in film and theater, I have also been an architectural design assistant, model maker and museum exhibition designer.  My production design credits include work with the New York and Sydney Fringe Festivals, the New York Film Academy, Metroscreen in Australia and several independent film production companies.  As a screenwriter, my work has been recognized and awarded in several international competitions.

Most of my production designs include custom props, graphics and artwork that I design and build myself.  I am well versed in getting the most I can out of an indy budget.

I am always interested in any script that offers a creative challenge, and  I enjoy design opportunities that give me a chance to transport an audience to a new world or to make this one a little more surreal and extraordinary.
