Film Design

The budget constraints, lack of available locations and overall difficulties associated with independent filmmaking have often required me to shop for and dress sets in less than 24 hours.

This bedroom set for “Raisins Not Virgins” was designed entirely around a green and gold mosque-shaped alarm clock.  The scenes in the bedroom show how a young successful Muslim-American woman deals with the constant struggle between her modern life and her religious identity.

These interiors for the short “The Boy Who Couldn’t Speak” were dressed blind, on the day of the shoot, with a combination of  items that the crew had provided, that were available on set, and that I had shopped for on a limited budget.
