This film, about idealist young Abbie’s first day at a new job, is set in a harsh dystopian office.  The symmetry of the set, repetition of desks, dark colors and otherwise characterless environment plays up the faceless nature of this imaginary corporate world.  The use of props and set pieces of various eras, arranged in a way they would never actually be used in a modern office, indicates the fantasy aspect of the story.  The props were custom designed to convey the intimidation Abbie experiences during her encounters with an angry boss and unfriendly coworkers.
